Bloody Stumpy Fingers

breadsticks-5

You know you want some!  Because they’re tasty.  And because you can gross your kids out.  Two big things,  in my opinion.  My kids gross me out enough, now it’s my turn.  Mwahahaha….

This one: so easy you won’t even believe it.

Remember my pizza post?  Right, ok.  Get your favorite pizza/bread dough.  Form it into twisty, bumpy sticks, and bake.  Serve with your favorite pizza or red sauce.  There you have it--Bloody Stumpy Fingers.  Easy!

And as a bonus, those same amputated twisty fingers can be dipped in Dark Brown Goo, also known as Deep Dark Truffle Sauce.  The recipe for the sauce can be found in 500 Best Sauces, Salad Dressings, Marinades & More, by George Geary.  This book is JAM packed with every single kind of sauce you could ever want.  And exactly the kind of book I’ve been on the lookout for.  For years!  It’s comprehensive, easy to follow--and will be a spotlight in an upcoming post.  Look for a giveaway, too!

You could also dip these in Swamp Goo, or pesto.

This post is for the #GreatHallowTweet started by Renee at Flamingo Musings.    Check out my fellow Halloween Ghouls in the pumpkin widget in the sidebar!

Dark Brown Goo, aka Deep Dark Truffle Sauce
makes 2 cups of stick-your-face-in-the-bowl-chocolaty-goodness

8 oz (250 g) bittersweet chocolate, finely chopped
2 tbsp (25 ml) unsweetened Dutch-process cocoa
1 cup (250 ml) heavy whipping cream
2 tsp (10 ml) unsalted butter
1 tsp (5ml) vanilla extract
1 tsp (5 ml) coffee liqueur

Combine the chocolate and cocoa in a heatproof bowl, set aside.
Over medium heat, bring the cream and butter to a boil.
Remove from heat and pour over the chocolate.
Whisk until smooth, then add vanilla and coffee liqueur.

Serve warm.  In a bowl. With a spoon.  For just you.  I never said you had to share.
But...it could be fun on--with! With your favorite person.  Not that I've ever done that. Just sayin'.

You're the only person I know who could pull off bloody stumpy fingers with "truffle sauce" ! It may be a creepy treat but at least it has class!

Reminds me of the Calvin & Hobbes cartoons where his mom has to tell him his food is covered in maggots or radioactive or something to get him to eat it! I love the fingers and goo!
