West Bend Platinum Edition Six Slice Convection Toaster Oven {Giveaway}

West-Bend

Giveaway Closed. The randomly chosen winner is Cindy B. Thank you all for playing along, and stay tuned for more fun giveaways!

So, you have your big oven, and it’s great and all that. Sometimes though, you just don’t really need to heat up the whole oven for a small cooking job, or your oven is already full. You need to bake that side dish or dessert at a different temperature and there’s just no room in the oven. Think Thanksgiving or Christmas! You need to bake the pies, but the oven will be roasting turkey all day--at least it seems like all day. For these times, wouldn’t it be nice to have some extra oven space? Of course it would! I have just the toaster oven for you.

West Bend is currently celebrating 100 years in the business of bringing quality appliances into our kitchens. I grew up with West Bend! My mom and my grandmother always had stuff from them in their kitchens. And I never heard any complaints from them--everything from West Bend was a trusted name back then, and it still is today. One hundred years! Keep up with new and exciting news from West Bend by Liking their Facebook page--you’ll never miss an update!

West Bend has graciously given me a Platinum Edition Six Slice Convection Toaster Oven to experiment with, and even better--one to give to one of you!

I’m telling you, you’ll love it. You might think “Why do I need a toaster oven? I already have an oven and a microwave.” That may be true, but it’s wonderful for those smaller jobs, and uses much less energy than your full size oven--and doesn’t turn your kitchen itself into an oven on those hot days. Can your microwave do a decent job on much else than frozen dinners, reheating, and popcorn? No, it can’t. We all know how unappealing reheated pizza is when warmed up in the microwave. The bread in a sandwich goes from tender to something like rubber in a microwave. Sad. Sad food.

What can you do in this toaster oven?

  • Bake quick breads, cakes, cookies, scones, muffins, etc.
  • Need toasted nuts? Why heat up the entire oven? Use the toaster oven!
  • Make nice melty, gooey sandwiches with the broiler.
  • Bake a 12 inch pizza!
  • Need to toast odd shaped breads like pita, naan, or other flatbreads? Forget the regular toaster--they won’t fit in there! They fit perfectly in the toaster oven.
  • Reheating foods is a snap with this oven, as is cooking frozen dinners. Don’t heat up the large oven to cook a small frozen entrée!
  • You can cook pretty much anything you’d make in your full size oven, as long as the pan fits, and this toaster oven has a surprising amount of room in it.
  • Crafts! My friend Kathy reminded me that it would  be great for crafts that need baking, and it's silly to heat up an entire oven for a small project, isn't it?

Here are the features of the Platinum Edition Six Slice Convection Toaster Oven:

  • Platinum Edition Countertop Ovens feature seek design lines and stainless steel accents.
  • Cook a 12 inch frozen pizza in less time than it takes to preheat a standard oven.
  • Automatic Convection fan circulates air to promote even cooking.
  • Large interior can hold a 12" pizza, 6 slices of bread, casseroles, and other baked goods.
  • Wire rack is reversible and has multiple level options to fit many sized pans.
  • Cook settings include Convection Bake, Broil, and Toast.
  • Temperature settings are Warm, 250 (degrees), 300, 350, 425, and Max Toast.
  • 60 minute timer with automatic shut-off.
  • Includes adjustable wire rack, broiler pan, and handle for removing pans from the oven.
  • 1380 watts
  • External measurements: 17 1/2” across, 10 1/2” high, and 13 3/4” deep.

Just a couple of the things I’ve made in the Platinum Edition Six Slice Convection Toaster Oven so far:

    Banana Blueberry Muffins:

(Can you see behind the muffin pan in the oven? The back of the oven is rounded, and that’s how it’s possible to fit a 12 inch pizza in there. This also gives you more room for larger items!)Muffins Baking in West Bend Convection Toaster Oven

    Banana Berry Biscoff Muffins

    Banana Berry Biscoff Muffins

Spinach, Feta and Sundried Tomato Pizza:

    Spinach and Feta Pizza

I find myself using it all the time. I’m sure you will, too! I’ll be posting a couple more recipes that I’ve made in the Platinum Edition Six Slice Convection Toaster Oven over the next couple of weeks.

I also picked up this set of pans from Chicago Metallic. I actually found it at TJ Maxx, so you may want to check out your local store, or you can order some from West Bend. Amazon has some different ones, as well.

Our toaster oven recently died and we are using a 4-slice toaster. I would love a new toaster oven for things like buttered toast, making just a few biscuits, or even cooking my bagels so they are soft and chewy inside and crusty outside.

    October 11, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterLara

I'd love to bake cookies in it! Never thought of using a convection oven for more than reheating leftovers or toasting things.

The first thing we'd try out with this oven is my daughter's homemade pizza! She makes that thing at least once a week, from scracth :)

    October 11, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterJMom

Fantastic giveaway! Since my current toaster has stopped toasting the bottom of the bread (only the top heating element still works, so you have to toast once, flip the bread, and toast again!), I have to say that the first thing I would be excited to make is simple toast, toasted properly!!! :-D

I tweeted the giveaway. For some reason I can't figure out how to link to it (I used to know how to do this!!) but my name is @cupcake_muffin and I friended you on twitter.

    October 11, 2011 | Unregistered Commentersara

This would be perfect for cooking the little two serving cakes and pies I make for Matt & I. They look so silly in our big oven. I'd also love it for crafting with fimo clay & shrinky dinks.

    October 11, 2011 | Unregistered Commenterkat

    I gave you a tweet & a Stumble

    October 11, 2011 | Unregistered Commenterkat

Ahhh, that piza looks so great. I really want the oven just to try it!

    October 11, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterMichele

I grew up with a toaster oven in the house and since having my own home I find myself longing for one on those afternoons when I am heating up leftover pizza! Lol Pizza in the microwave is completely unacceptable and I hate heating up the oven for a slice. I never thought about making muffins in the toaster oven though, I definitely would whip some up before sending my daughter off to school in the morning!

    October 11, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterAmanda Bryant

I love that you can bake muffins - that's what I'd make first!!

    October 11, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterDeborah

I think that the first thing I would try is muffins, then pizza, then some sort of grilled cheese/ham sandwich. I cannot wait to see who wins and thank you for giving us a chance to win this toaster oven.

    October 11, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterMelodie

I'd make cookies first, to see the convection in action. My oven has hot spots, and I have to constantly rotate cookie sheets.

    October 11, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterVicki

I like to try some kind of potato dish. With just my husband and I heating up the main oven seems a waste of energy.

    October 11, 2011 | Unregistered Commenterkayceebeebee

I'd do a small turkey, probably brined and with apple cider, then loads of cornbread and huge huge pans of homemade gingerbread. I've told all my foodie friends and family about this give-away, and will Facebook soon.

    October 11, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterJenn

Mmmmm gooey sandwichs make me melt!

    October 11, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterJoanne

I loved my "baby" oven as I used to call it when it still worked. It's just my husband and me so it's a life saver having a just the right size oven for us. I would make mother's ham and hashbrow casserole first.

    October 11, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterVickie B

I would make mini pizzas for the kids after school! And then maybe some cookies!

    October 11, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterErika

I want to make EVERYTHING I saw in your post first if I win the oven lol! I am going to tweet about it as well. :)

I have a new recipe for chocolate chip cookies that I'd love to try out in this oven.

    October 11, 2011 | Unregistered Commenterjennvan40

Well, recently my convection toaster oven died and now my microwave is going (I sure do pick long lasting items don't I?) It would be lovely to not heat up my entire oven to bake something - such as those elfin shortbread cookies on your site that I am just dying to make for the holidays!

This will also be perfect for my husband and I. We are going to be heading to Japan to teach English and they don't always use ovens there. This would be the perfect thing to have on hand so we'd be able to bake as often as we'd like.

    October 11, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterSamantha

Since I'm on a "cookies high" this month , the first thing I would bake in the West Bend oven would be cookies!

I would love to have one of these beauties to add to my kitchen. I love cooking and trying new recipes. This would help tremendously by not having to use my oven for the "small" jobs that we all encounter.

    October 12, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterLCW172

One word: Nachos, baby! (ok, two words!!) Wait, three: Cheese Nachos, Baby!!

October 12, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterApril was in CT now CA

My 20 year old Black & Decker toaster oven has officially kicked the bucket This weekend, it burned hubby's bagel into a hockey puck, and he tossed it in the trash. We can't agree on which one to replace it with. I know that I want one with convection, but that's about all we agree on. Winning one would keep us from arguing!

    October 12, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterElissa

oh, you had me at muffins... boychild is on a kick where he'll only eat muffins for breakfast, but he can't go through a dozen fast enough before they go stale, so i do 6 at a time. and it seems so wasteful to heat up the oven for just 6 muffins! our current toaster oven is too small for a muffin tin, but looks like this one would do the trick. :)

    October 12, 2011 | Unregistered Commenterbeth

My husband is a toaster oven fanatic. Ours is on it's last leg. It would be great to expand what we do with the toaster oven with the convection feature.

    October 12, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterWendy L

The first thing I would make in this toaster oven - banana bread! Yum!!

    October 12, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterDiane P.

I want to bake fish without having to preheat the oven for like 10 minutes!!!

    October 12, 2011 | Unregistered Commentersean

I would make apple cranberry crumble! Thanks! :D

    October 12, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterBrenda

Kimchi pizza toast! My favorite toaster oven meal.

    October 12, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterMichelle

I've never owned a toaster oven, but have thought they would be nice to have. I would make banana muffins :)

    I tweeted the giveaway @mypinkmixerblog

I am a personal chef and I have not had an oven since May! I have used my gas grill to do everything...even baking! As you can imagine, baking is a challenge. I would make the most decadent fudgy brownies!

    October 12, 2011 | Unregistered Commenterdoreen

I would use it to make quick breads..the one pan kind that don't need an entire oven, and quickly broiled English muffins for tuna melts.....

    October 12, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterPiper

Our oven uses 4500KWH--so it isn't practical for smaller loads,

    October 12, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterBarry Kustin

I would keep it with me at work so that I could have hot things at lunch. The first thing would be a bagel with cream cheese. It would be great to use for reheating my meals also. I don't use microwave ovens so this would be perfect. I also don't tweet or facebook. I spend enough time on the computer goofing off as it is.

October 12, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterJanet in Maine

Love this blog and would also love this toaster oven. I don't have one right now and I know how great they are for reheating and for breakfast you get so much use out of them.

October 12, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterMarilyn the nurse

Those muffins look pretty amazing! I think i would want to make those :)

    October 12, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterJulia C

Our previous top-of-the-line toaster oven met its demise when I snapped the porcelain heating element. Now, the current one is barely hanging on, we have to use a knife to get the door open because of a broken handle and it makes a "buzz-squeek-click-byuuu" sound when it's done.

    We need a new toaster.
