Columbus Salame Collection Giveaway

Ploughman's Platter featuring Columbus Salame

My husband and I love snacking on different cheeses, salame (or salami), fruit, assorted savories like roasted peppers and olives, and crusty bread. Wash it all down with a great wine, and you’ve got a fun time! It’s our version of a ploughman’s platter.

I was recently contacted my Molly, representing Columbus Foods in San Francisco. Not only do they have a great selection of deli meats (Just look at that platter on the home page!), but they also have a selection of hand-crafted salame to die for. They offer Artisan Salumi, as well as a nice variety of Classic Salame.

Giveaway closed. The winner is randomly chosen #3, who is Angela. Congratulations, Angela!

Ploughman's Platter featuring Columbus Salame

She offered me the opportunity to try a selection of the Columbus Artisan Salumi and Classic Salame. They sent me a beautiful wooden box filled with a fantastic selection, as well as tasting guides for hosting a Salumi Party.

All of these are gluten free, contain no msg, and have no trans fats. They’re all authentic Italian recipes, and are slow aged and dry cured.

About Columbus:

Columbus Salumeria: Inspired in Italy. Founded in San Francisco.

When our founders arrived from Italy in 1917, they brought a bit of Italy with them. With authentic Italian recipes in hand and mastery of salame-making in practice, they began crafting and selling their Old World artisan salame in San Francisco, California, long before “artisan” was known as such.

Today, we are one of the most respected producers of fine foods in the country. In addition to authentic, 100% pork salame, we manufacture premium-quality deli meats made with the finest whole cuts of turkey, ham, beef, and chicken. You can taste tradition in every bite.

Ploughman's Platter featuring Columbus Salame

There’s a brew pub in Portsmouth, NH that we love to go to--The Portsmouth Brewery. It’s a great place to hang out with friends and enjoy some great food and handcrafted beers. They have this ploughman’s plate on the menu that I love. Well, let me clarify. It used to be a platter that would feed a few people. Now it’s a plate for one. Bummer! Anyway, we were in love with it from the first bite, so that’s where our inspiration came from for this platter. We’ve taken some of our favorites and served them up on a huge board so that everyone can take what they want. Be sure to have plenty of back up so that you can replenish ingredients as they’re eaten. Serve with plenty of wine or ice cold beer, and you’ve got an instant party.

I usually find a lot of salami to be greasy and salty, but the ones from Columbus are so fresh tasting! I’ve been spoiled and don’t think I could snack on any other brand!

There’s hardly any prep for this platter-just mostly slicing up a few things and laying them out on whatever you want to serve them on.

We included:

  • The Columbus Salame,of course
  • Red grapes
  • Crispy apple slices
  • Marinated mushrooms
  • A selection of olives
  • Sliced tomatoes
  • Sliced roasted red peppers
  • A fabulous Truffle Cheese (use your favorites!
  • Grainy pub style mustard
  • Toasted baguette slices

Get creative and add your favorites! A platter like this is also great for the holidays.

I encourage you to give Columbus a try! If you can’t find a retailer in your area, you can also order from these online retailers.

Not commenting/tweeting to enter (I've won enough from you!) but I love their salami. You're right, it's not at all greasy, and it's really nice chopped up and scrambled with eggs, served on a soft Italian roll. My favorite is the Toscano but now I may have to try the herb.

Oh my gosh, Elle, you have NO idea how much I love salami...all kinds of it. I eat it for snacks all the time, and my husband and I do what we call "antipasti dinners" where we do a whole plate of salame, different cheeses, white beans with garlic and rosemary, all sorts of goodies.
